Apologies about the title, wasn't sure how to word this. But I just watched a clip of the '85 Chicago Bears defense, and I had completely forgotten that Soldier Field had astroturf, installed in '71 and it remained until they installed natural grass in 1987. Seems almost sacrilegious.

Was also doing a deep dive on the St Louis Cardinals from the 90's to the 2000's, and had completely forgotten Tino Martinez was a Card for 2 seasons, 2002-2003.My memory of it was how big a deal it was to have this guy from all of these great Yankees teams, ended up being a place holder at 1st base until Pujols took that position full time.

My mom grew up listening to Cardinals games on the radio, that's how I found out Harry Caray did radio for St. Louis to start his career.

From Caray's wiki

quote:

He spent one season broadcasting for the Oakland Athletics, in 1970, before, as he often told interviewers, he grew tired of owner Charles O. Finley's interference and accepted a job with the Chicago White Sox. (Apparently the feeling was mutual; Finley later said that "that shite [Caray] pulled in St. Louis didn't go over here.") Finley wanted Caray to change his broadcast chant of "Holy Cow" to "Holy Mule".

The Colts got Peyton Manning because Jim Harbaugh broke his hand when he punched Jim Kelly. Sorta.

Don't feel bad, I'm pretty sure Tino forgets he played for the Cardinals. He absolutely hated it here. He would talk in interviews like he still played for the Yankees, calling them "we" and talk about the Cardinals like they were an opposing team.

Derek Jeter maintained a reputation for professionalism throughout his long career and was never ejected from a game.

I can’t find the relevance of that.
Please inform.

The Royals....always mis-remembering they won the,Title in the 80s when World Series lists are brought up....not to mention barely registering they won one,recently...Or did they Mandela?

Royals exist in the Ether, good or bad, what happens with them soon becomes a debate on what's real or not. Strange franchise...perhaps the lowest on public consciousness in MLB ever since the Expos died.
