Who stays and who goes incoming freshman class baseball

Jay has mentioned recently that he expects to get hammered some in this draft.
3B Quentin Young - He has size, he is athletic and has power in the arm and bat. He has a huge upside and they are going to throw money his way. Rumor is that he is leaning going pro. Likely gone.
OF Dean Moss- I like these type of players. He is a really good player without a really high ceiling. The somewhat limited ceiling will hurt his draft value some and that might be enough to get this guy to campus. Coin flip.
3B Brady Ebel - Ebel is similar to Moss in that he is a really good player that does everything well but perhaps has some limits as well. That gives us a shot, but Jay's comment concerns me. I think we lose this one.
C/2B/OF Jaden Fauske - There are team that see him as a catcher but word is he doesn't want to play that position. This could hurt his draft value some but he is most likely gone. Joe Doyle mentioned he is leaning towards going pro.
P Miquel Sime - Solid build and can throw 100 MPH. His profile is more of a reliever and there are some command issues but he is most likely gone as well. There is plenty of upside there to make him a good offer.
P River Hamilton - Struggled with injuries last year and that could get him to campus. I think LSU will get lucky with this one and he has a starting profile.
C Omar Serna - Has already taken himself out of the draft. He has some skills defensively and will compete for time right away.
1B Mason Braun - 6 foot and a pure first baseman. This will severely limit his draft value and we should land this really good hitter.
P Reagan Ricken - I like this guys potential and I think he gets to campus
SS Jack Ruckert - LA kid and should get to campus. Right now we are a little thin at SS behind Milam so this could be an important recruit.
P Marcos Paz - This is a big time pitcher that should get to campus because of TJ last year. He is already throwing and we might have gotten lucky with this one as well.
SS Ethan Claus - Should get to campus and another possible backup to Milam
C/2B Landon Hodge - Landon is a highly rated catcher but he can move. I think he gets to campus but don't be surprised to see him getting some reps at at 2B as well as catcher.
P Briggs McKenzie - This might be our most highly rated pitcher and our most important recruit to get to campus. We need lefties and he is a good one. Some teams love him and he is going to get a good offer. I don't think we will see him at LSU but a big deal if he does.
OF William Patrick - Athletic freak with plenty of upside. He still needs some work on hitting but ceiling is high. His ceiling could entice some teams to throw money his way but he is a LA kid and should make it to campus.
P Zion Theophilus - He wins the best name in the class award. Good pitcher that should make it to campus.
P Jonah Aase - Had TJ. We will have to see what the redshirt rules are these days on this one.
JUCO OF Daniel Harden - Good athlete, local guy that wasn't really highly rated coming out of HS. He was a two sport guy, went to JUCO and focused on baseball only and did really well. He could come in right away and compete.
JUCO P Ethan Plog - Left handed pitcher that was a little up and down in JUCO. I have never seen him pitch but I think him being a leftie had a lot to do with him signing with us. There was some talk of him staying in JUCO another year. We will see what happens here.

The one sport at LSU that really benefits from this new age of college athletics is baseball because Jay can travel the country swinging his gigantic purple and gold dick tatted with two titles in three seasons and get just about anyone he wants now. He damn near got anyone he wanted before #8, he sure as hell will be in a better position now.
I’m not worried AT ALL about baseball anymore and I trust Jay completely with managing the loss of good players now. He’s got this. It’s time for us fans to relax, enjoy the rest of the summer with our families, and get ready for football.
It’s like that Peter Griffin episode when he’s going to bed and decides to turn the light on to see outside and there’s Jay Johnson, sitting at the head coach’s desk and Peter says, “goooood” then goes to sleep. We’re in a really, really good spot right now.

He was originally scheduled to stay in JUCO one more year, but recently he indicated that he will be coming to LSU in the fall.
ETA: He will actually be on campus soon. He's going to make one more start in the Northwoods league and then head down to Baton Rouge.

Hunt usually does a show on just what he is hearing from scouts and inside people. He is typically right on. Can’t wait to hear his thoughts.

Wow, I sure am glad, I can relax and get ready for football….
Would be ashamed if I weren’t prepared!
????
Who isn’t relaxed? If worrying about college sports causes you stress, you should seek therapy.

Looking at the first page of the baseball recruiting page(shoutout to WPJ23) it is just amazing to me that the recruits are from all over the country.
And also 16 out of 17 are PG10 ( Which are 5 stars in football)

We need to kill the PG 10 is a five star narrative. A PG 10 means one of his skill sets is rated a 10. It is not an overall ranking of the player, just one of his tools. Most top 100 recruits will have something rated as a 10. Usually more than one skill.

Also, Perfect Game is generally awful at evaluation, so there's that.
But when you decide that the primary driver of your evaluation is going to be who pays to be at the most events rather than who has the best chance of playing at the next level, it's going lead to some misses.

Jay was just on with Hester and Flynn. Didn’t sound very confident on many making it to campus. Said MLB money is big this year.

It's going to be like this every third year unless there is an abnormally large crop of high school talent in one of those years that makes it to campus around the country.
These things go in cycles, but the last down college year led to this being a down college year. It changes a little with guys reclassifying, and the prevalence of draft eligible sophomores, but by and large we're on a cycle of every third year being a more high school centric draft. At least in the waters we're swimming in.

I agree. That's why last year's class was so important. If you can get a good bit of your class to school 2 years in a row that would be great. It'll offset a weak year. I know the transfer portal can make it somewhat of a non-issue, but you need players that grow up in the program.

Yep, Perfect Game is reporting Quentin Young is having a Draft party with immediate & extended family. Sadly, he also invited PG & their cameras to capture the moment. That sounds gone pecan. (Btw, PG's latest mock had him going 40th overall to L.A. which is an hour away from his home. PG also had Fauske going #39 to the Yankees)

No one knows..
But Jay will get it done.

The history with Young’s bloodline (Dmitri / Delmon) is that he will not sniff college.

I never understood this kind of thing. If you're that gone just don't even bother committing to a college
