Any unconventional advice on places to travel while we are vising? We will be riding the trains/buses. I have no plans on renting a car so I know that will limit some of the more our of the way locations.

Planning on being there from late Nov - Dec. !4 nights in Czechia. I know some castles/places will be closed for winter so of our options are limited compared to other times of the year. I don't plan on traveling outside of Czechia for the visit.

Locked in places-
Prague with trips to towns around it
Cesky Krrumlov

Side question-
Moravian Karst- has anyone been to these caves? Will they be worth it like Postojna? I know two are closed in winter for nesting bats...

Thanks

You will love Prague. I was there this past April. It has one of the largest and best preserved medieval Old Towns anywhere.

You can take the train to Pilsen and see the Pilsner Urquell brewery, one of the oldest in the world. It's worth a trip to try the unfiltered beer right out of the barrel in their storage caves.

Cesky Krumlov is awesome. Definitely stay at least one night, once the tourist buses leave you’ll have the town to yourself. Also highly recommend rafting down the river through town. They play it pretty fast and loose, no guide and just tell you to have it at the end of the route by the appointed hour. Plenty of time to pop on shore for a pilsner.

Karlstejn Castle is a quick day trip from Prague. Cool town and some great walking trails to check out around the castle.

You will be there during Christmas market season, and Brno was named the European Christmas capital.

Cesky Krumlov- I will add rafting down the river it to the to do list. I think I can actually go through the pension I'm staying at there We are planning two nights.

Would Pilsen be worth an overnight or just a day trip?

I might make Brno our headquarters for sight seeing around that area. Thanks for the heads-up around their Christmas markets. I hadn't read anything about them. I've gone to the several in Austria, Germany, and Slovenia the last couple of years. Great way to grab a quick bite after/while sightseeing or an after dinner drink.
