They should let him out of his contract.

Need to figure out if Livvy is in town or not. It directly affects his starts.

She must be a distraction for the Pittsburgh batters.

Thru 5 and it is 0-0.

Skenes was pulled after 5.

Seems like a good time to live bet the cardinals?

Ran the numbers.

Skenes has 18 starts and 61 runs scored by the Pirates when he pitches, or 3.4 rpg when he takes the mound.

Three of those starts, the Pirates have scored 28 total.

So in those 15 other starts, the Pirates score 2.2 runs per game.

Talk about wasting opportunities 15x and shitting the bed offensively when he takes the mound.

I mean it’s hard to criticize Skenes but he’s going through too many pitches and getting pulled early a lot lately.

He is, yeah, but who knows how stressed he is on the mound knowing he has to be near perfect because his team doesn’t score when he pitches.

They have 1 hit tonight against a dude with a 4.15 ERA after piling up 51 hits and 37 runs the last 4 games.

With so many stats in baseball there has to be a projection that shows what the Win Loss record should be for a typical pitcher with his number of innings and 2.03 ERA (in comparison to his 4-7)

My guess is like 6-3

Thru 18 starts?

Probably 10-3 or better.

He's doing everything he can to keep runs @ or near 0, so trying for lots of Ks. If he felt his team could back him up offensively, he could pitch to contact and go deeper

They’ll never trade him till contract year, 2030 I think. At least three more seasons of wasted effort !

The one run was good enough for a Pirates win. Skenes didn’t get the win though.

Some of y'all act like you've never witnessed a great young player on a crappy small market team. It happens all the time, and the Pirates aren't letting him go until the right offer comes along, so you might as well stop posting about it until he's further into his rookie contract. Skenes is great, Pirates suck... DUH!!!!

Well that’s not how it’s like in the MLB. They don’t line up the same like they do in college every weekend. They don’t have ace v ace every series. Teams have different off days and they just rotate through their top 5. The Cardinals pitcher today, for instance, is #4 in their rotation

This MLB regular season isn’t College Baseball (or MLB playoffs) where you have a set rotation that matches up every weekend with 1-2-3.

The Pirates just don’t score when he pitches no matter the opposing pitcher.

This - it is what it is - no one values pitcher wins and losses in evaluating pitching performance anymore so it's not like Skenes is being adversely affected by this - and we're Skenes fans, not Pirate fans, so what does it matter as long as Skenes performs.

The Pirates ain't trading him and his team friendly rookie contract so enjoy the talent and don't stress on the rest....unless you are a Pirate fan....then stress away.
