Headed to Malta at the end of August. Has anyone been? Any tips or suggestions on things to do, restaurants, hotels, etc?

Can’t offer much other than I want to go back for several days because it’s cool as shite. It was a stop on our cruise. You can hire a taxi for fairly cheap to give you tour of all the major sites. That will let you get bearings on where to go back and explore further. I want to stay a couple nights inside the walled city of Mdina. There is rooftop restaurant in there that overlooks the valley all the way to the sea. I also want to take the boat tour of blue grotto, we only saw it from above. Want to explore more of the underground cites. And finally I want to study up on the strategic importance of that island and all the battles it’s seen so I will be better prepared to seek out some of those historical sites.

We mainly just walked around Valletta and Mdina and popped into whatever looked cool. Very walkable. Two restaurants that we liked were Legligin (highly recommend) and Aki (sushi). Terrone was another restaurant we went to with a cool atmosphere. Feels like you walk through a tunnel and then come out to water side dining. I can't remember who we used for the boat cruise but definitely do that. We also did a cooking class. Only spent around 5 days there and it was enough with how small it is. Spent the rest of our time in other parts of Europe
