Most people have never heard of this title before the past two days.

I hope they keep hammering it home so that we can finally put a title a person to the “unelected bureaucrat” moniker and people begin to understand how many of these people are out there and how “easily” they can stop Trump’s mandate.

I hope this blows up in the Dems’ faces. But we have to put our hopes in the spineless GOP, so we shall see.

Yeah, surely Trump's team saw this coming and have a plan to deal with it.

Why the GOP didn't replace this person before this bill was introduced is beyond me unless the Senate leadership wanted to tank the BBB. This is a person installed by the dems, who the GOP can replace at any time.

The fact that they didn't immediately replace her when the new Senate first met makes me think that they are either extremely incompetent or planned from the beginning to use her to tank the reconciliation package.

I don't understand why anyone other than a duly elected Senator has any say in any of this.

Congress does not want most of their actual responsibility. This is why they have given so much of it away.

They don’t want any negativity that can be placed at their feet. They want to only be able to take credit for “good” things and continue to get elected in perpetuity.

Aren’t there like 150+ law making agencies or some nonsense like that?

I asked Grok about it.... all she can do is advise.

quote:

The Senate parliamentarian does not have the authority to remove bills. Their role is advisory, providing guidance on Senate rules, precedents, and procedures. They make recommendations, particularly on whether provisions in a bill comply with rules like the Byrd Rule during reconciliation, but the final decision rests with the presiding officer or the Senate itself.

This conflict can be resolved:
quote:

The parliamentarian is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Senate majority leader. Traditionally, the parliamentarian is chosen from senior staff in the parliamentarian office, which helps ensure consistency in the application of the Senate's complex rules. The last three parliamentarians have served under both Republican and Democratic Senate leaders.

Parliamentarian of the United States Senate - Wikipedia LINK

quote:

The role of the parliamentary staff is advisory, and the presiding officer or Senate may overrule the advice of the parliamentarian. In practice, this is rare; the most recent example of a vice president (as president of the Senate) overruling the parliamentarian was Nelson Rockefeller in 1975.

As VP, Vance is the President of the Senate (i.e., the Presiding Officer)

This tweet is exactly what I mean and want to see!

This type of language putting a bureaucratic title with ACTUAL actions that can be seen and felt in issues/policies that people care about, especially the 80/20 issues.

Keep this up and I think there may be some pressure to can the wench.
