Queen and Shough are not bad gets for the Benson Org. Just too much capital invested...

In Shoughs case it was how high a player with three season ending injuries was drafted.

In Queen, it is how much was given up.

Big guys who are not good shooting outside and have not shown they can protect the rim have a short shelf life.

Queen may also have some Zion type immarurity issues and may not like being away from home having picked a college 30 miles from his home. He is far from a starter as a rookie and I am not certain we have the coaching to develop him to his potential. He still needs to lose weight and I am not certain New Orleans is the place for that.

They gave up a pick to move up 10 slots to draft a guy they had rated #6 in the 13th slot.

As far as the people arguing that they gave up a sure fire top 4 pick, these are the same people who were absolutely convinced we would have a top 4 pick this year and were flabbergasted that we landed at #7. Waiting for the ping pongs to pop up your way is not sound strategy.

Absolutely, however I see a project like Queen as a luxury better afforded by a team in a better place than the Pels are right now. I say project because as-is without developing an outside shot and/or better defensive skill I do not see him an NBA starter.

comparing the two selections is absolutely moronic. Drafting a possible day 1 starting qb in the 2nd round of the draft is in no way too much capital invested no matter how long shough ends up working out or not. qb is the most important position in football. as well as a day 1 ready qb on a pick 40 rookie contract.

Shough was drafted lower than anticipated, a handful of teams around the league had him as the best QB in the draft. Saints didn’t trade up for him either.

Queen wasn’t the best big man in the draft, and we gave up an UNPROTECTED pick to get him.

You cannot even compare the two.
