Anyone familiar with the North East Tennessee area? North east of Knoxville? Wife may have a job offer, and I’m about to retire. Just curious. TIA

One of my best baws moved to Greene Country in 2015, and I spend 2 or 3 weeks there every year. I love it. Peaceful. Beautiful scenery. Not much traffic in the country.

Had a buddy that lived around Johnson city for a couple years. He just moved for a different job opportunity but he seemed to like it fine.

Johnson City / Bristol area? Not the most "citified" area, but maybe that's a good thing.

J.C. has some hipster shops and brewpubs due to ETSU being there. And then there is NASCAR at Bristol.

If mountain-living is your thing, it's right next door down I-26.

I lived in Morristown for about three years. About an hour northeast of Knoxville. Had a condo on a lake about fifteen minutes north of Morristown. Close to Knoxville and the tri-cities is just up the road. It’s a pretty area.

Depends where exactly. Johnson city/Kingsport/Elizabethton are really nice for hiking, proximity to mountains scenery etc.

Johnson city is better to live in then the other two but more expensive.

Knox itself is very livable as well.

If you mean like getting up towards Kentucky north then it gets a little rougher

Area around Morristown/Jeff city/dandridge are beautiful but relatively country.

Greeneville is nice with decent schools.

The thing to know if you have kids in east Tennesse are that the school districts are basically split into your county school and the city school with the city getting more spending they determine it by address but you can pay into the city school ( it was like 3/4k I think)

People would pay into DB instead of going to Volunteer or the other Sullivan county schools for example.

Awesome people over there would recommend. No income tax $15 for car registration

Edit: forgot about Bristol didn't spend too much time there downtown was nice the rest kinda meh

That’s I-40. Your best bet is to take 26 and cross over into North Carolina at Elizabethton.

Is now opened down to Asheville. Might be one or two sections that are still limited to 2-lanes for some touch-up work, but AFAIK it's now all done.
