Headed there soon with wife for a few kid-free days at an all-inclusive.

Any recommendations on what to do off resort?

Puerto Vallarta

Do a taco tour of the city. The food scene there is really good. There are a ton taco cart and restaurants.

The Malecon is also a fun place to walk up and down.

What AI are you staying at?

Looking for recs too; we're headed there in December. Currently looking at the Hyatt Ziva there as we have some status.

If being directly on the beach isn't a must or being in an adults only is a must, I heartily recommend Casa Velas in PV.

Contact Juan Jose Espinoza Luqun, he's on FB. He owns Las Together Tours & Transports. We've been to PV four times in the last couple of years and used him each time. Taco-tequila Tours, fishing trips, whale watching, Sayulita, he has tons of options.

I've stayed there and at Grand Velas. Both were great. CV is much smaller and only has one or two restaurants. It's much smaller, but it's very nice. GV is on the beach and has several restaurants. We were there in May this year. It's about a $20-30 cab ride to downtown Puerto Vallarta. There was a lot of construction on the road to PV form GV, but most people were saying it would be completed by Dec or Jan.

Wife and I are taking our 3 young children to Punta Mita in 2 weeks. Our first time to Mexico.

Really looking forward to it.
