It's almost if they're just playing safe and not trying for extra bases, but there have been other calls that say otherwise.

Braswell finally gets a hit but in the process he interferes with the catcher and decides not to take second with Curiel batting. Man oh man.

The ball bounced over twenty feet away from the catcher. He wouldn’t have even needed to slide into second.

Maybe but with Curiel up you get to second in case a base hit or get thrown out and have the top of the order for the ninth.

On every case there was nothing to be safe about. Every base running loaf I’ve seen was with 2 outs. You either hustle and get a further base or the ball gets caught and inning over.
