Is there anywhere to rent a center console bay boat in or w/n a few hours of GI? Not talking charter service, an actual week-long rental.

Check with Renovations Hardware! They are located in Galliano on the way to Grand Isle!!

I wish there was a service like they have in florida area. You pay monthly fee and you can request different types of boats whenever you need them.

Freedom boat club is company. $199 a month.
Can get anything from party barges, center consoles, wake boats or just a cruiser. They have something like 400 locations. They have boat gassed up and waiting at dock for you

Freedom was my best experience with a boat. Can choose a bay boat or deck boat depending on the day you want to have, etc. Full gas tank every time.

Show up to the dock with your shite and leave the boat at the dock when done. No trailering, washing, maintenance fees, etc. Believe Freedom is in Mandeville, but I am not up to speed on Lake P. 200 bucks was a steal.

Yeah, I was in Freedom for about 8 years. Loved it. It's in Madisonville. We used it all the time, especially for trips to Destin, just hop on, go do your thing, then go back and hop off.

Called Renovations Hardware, they no longer rent boats. Boatsetter had one, 18ft w/ 90hp that looked like a sea ark, not exactly what I am looking for. None found in getmyboat.

I grew up fishing on the Island, had a boat when we lived closer. We now live in Quantico VA and try to get back at least one week a year.

We’ve settled for two days of in-shore charter (Reel Screamers) and will surf fish. On that note, any recs for surf fishing setup?
Second question, IIRC, crabs don’t begin running thick till late Aug/Sept, is that right? Is it worth trying to crab in the surf next week?

When I was a teenager (early 80s) we’d pull a seine between jetties on the beach and catch dozens of crabs. Daddy’s Money at night. The good ole days.

Surf fishing - Still dark and can barely see to the Break of Dawn: Throw a topwater in the 1st trough against the beach (pink mirrorlure, red head/white body, or hard plastic shrimp with bright color). You may have a 1/2 hour window to catch them, but they will be there.

After this, you can still throw the topwater from the first sandbar to the gulf side, but I usually throw artificial cocahoe with a piece of shrimp (some swear by live shrimp). Maybe with or without cork, you need to figure out if they are up or down for that day.

I wouldn't mess around with the crabs yet, they won't have numbers if you are looking for a boil with a decent group of people.
