Ive only been to Little Rock for business and my wife has never been to Arkansas. Where would you recommend we visit for a couple days in NW Arkansas?

If you’re into camping and canoeing, the Buffalo River is excellent scenery for that. Some buddies and I do it most years. We pack up canoes and get dropped in at a point and then picked up a few days later 25-30 miles downriver. It’s a good time.

Kings river and crooked creek have less traffic and better smallmouth fishing imo.

Dumas, Pine Bluff, Eudora can't go wrong anywhere in the Delta.

We used to go canoeing but I think those days are over. A cabin in the mountains is more our speed now.

Buffalo river and Jasper area is great.
When are you going though? In 2021 we went for July 4th, and we dragged a few spots because the river had gotten so low.
Great hiking around there though.

We don't have schedule contraints but I'd like to go in the next week or two.

Get a tree house cabin in Eureka Springs. Not too far of a drive into Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers, Springdale area.

That's the area I've been thinking. Thanks for the input.

If you want to disconnect and have a peaceful trip, I would recommend Blanchard Springs Caverns. Years ago, I took my wife and two kids (9 and 6 at the time) there and rented a cabin nearby. Just google Blanchard Springs Caverns Cabins and you'll find some good ones. The cave system is really cool to go take a tour, you can "swim" (or more like wade) in the creek that feeds the cave and picnic in the park, and it is many miles away from large populations. The cabin we rented purposefully did not have a TV or WiFi, so it was a great time to play board games and just converse as a family.

quote:Look into Longbow resort. They have a cabin with a private 30 foot waterfall just outside the back porch. Only downside for some is lack of internet access and poor cell signal at the cabin due to it being located in a small box canyon. I personally enjoyed being off the grid for a quiet weekend there

go to Hot Springs
and then anything around Bentonville is nice
stay the frick out of the delta and the lower half of the state. But I will say this... if you do drive through Dumas, stop at Taylors Steakhouse, but after you eat, get your car and keep driving

I'd go up Hwy 65 coming from Tennessee and hit Coursey's meats. Smoked meats, cheeses, steaks. My MIL get me their smoked bacon and other assorted items from there every year for Christmas and birthday. It's right there at the Buffalo. Even if you want to go out for dinners, you won't regret cooking breakfast from there in your cabin.

I love Eureka Springs and will literally detour to stop there on may way to and from Kansas City every year. It's a pretty good location between outdoor activities and more tourist things (like caves, the safari thing, Christ at the Ozark, and even Branson).
I'm also pretty much addicted to Ermilio's Italian there and Mud Street Cafe for breakfast. And I always hit Gotahold brewery.
Just make sure that when you go there isn't a special event going on in town. Traffic quickly becomes a huge issue since its really only one street through the main part of town and the streets are small.

Three excellent recommendations.

The drive to the erbie campground is pretty fun. And you can take a dip in the river in isolation. Wink wink

There's pretty hiking and lakes near there but Branson is no different than Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Like the Walmart of tourist traps.
