Jay Johnson or Paul Maineri

Paul wasnt that good in my mind.
Jay takes more chances imo. I could be wrong.

The coach who brought two different programs to the CWS Finals in his first 2 years on the job.

And it’s not even close. Paul did a pretty good job here and was a great recruiter. Jay is in another level.

Nolan Cain was a great recruiter.
Jay’s ex-players respect him.
Paul’s ex-players laugh at him.

Paul was some bad luck away from winning two more natties.
Walker getting hurt during 2017 run and Jake slaughter being a complete moron
Also Poche throwing the ball away to first multiple times. Memory is spotty but that was a massive error that TCU capitalized on.
Ralph Rhymes hitting into 7 double plays doesn’t help either lol.
CPM is goated

Paul won't get the respect he deserves because he only won one natty, but he didn't win with his best teams. He was coaching during a tough era for schools like LSU. I'm so glad the dead bat era is over.

Jay is 48 and likely can Coach here for 20 more years. He will win at least one more and I’d actually say he wins 3-4 more.
I know half of our fanbase hates him but he’s got a shot to win a frickton of games and go down as an all time great.

Well that half is stupid.

Paul was a decent coach, but probably stayed 3-4 years too long. He was burned out and done for the most part. It happens to the best of coaches.

Better than Skip and Jay?
Comparing Paul to Skip is stupid. It is like comparing Orgeron to Saban.
Paul compared to Johnson is like comparing Les to Saban.
Jay = Saban
Paul’s best coaching job was 2017. It was his players and they came out of nowhere. Les had 2011 so there’s that.
You make your “luck” sometimes. Injuries are part of this game like any other. If Jay doesn’t lose Grant Taylor, that team may have had the top 3 picks and not lost an SEC game. That team if it wasn’t the GOAT at LSU, it would have been easily.

Probably.

I think he also had some physical health issues. I also think a few years off made him want to compete again. Unfortunately for him, he is not starting off that well.
