F&DB Cooking Challenge #46: SALT, Date set for Aug 11

As winner of the 45th challenge with my exquisite Pollo La’Orange dish, it is my honor and duty to setup the next challenge.

You all know the rules. Salt must be the key ingredient, and you need to post pictures of your preparation and final dish.

I get that these challenges have fizzled out, but it does appear quite a few people showed interest in getting them rolling again. I figure I’ll set this up and see how it goes. If enough people participate and these challenges continue, then good deal. If it fails then it wasn’t meant to be.


I’ll be back in August with the submission thread.

Can we get a clarification on whether the salt must be natural? Or will artificial salt suffice?

properly salted food is the basis of cuisine and has been since cuisine developed many thousands of years ago. Up until very recently, salt was an economy all its own, and the search for and delivery of salt was the driver of more human history than is possible to describe.

great choice, and opens this up to just about anything worth its salt

I agree. There are some cool things that can be done with salt. I do think it will be interesting.
