Anyone been fishing the Breton Sound, Gosher or Chandalier Islands.

Gonna be a choppy ride, but planning on getting on the North side of these islands to see what we can find.

Trout are there. So are the sharks.

Weather looks terrible gonna sit this weekend out and head to Omaha. If the forecast changes your plan is very solid based on 12 trips in the last 3 weeks.

Went to cut the grass at the camp Thursday evening. Ran to Breton Sound Friday morning, wind had laid down. Caught some hammers. 3 of us caught 35 before the tide went flat and bite stopped just before 9 am.

I haven’t bought shrimp all year. Plastic has produced easy limits.

Get it if you want to have some but I haven’t found it necessary.

Post back, I’m headed down next weekend, weather permitting. Looks like a possible window to exploit Sunday and Monday, but I might be written out of the will if I skip Father’s Day.

Yes!

Today was even better. Son was able to drive down last night and add us a limit!

Done by 7:30. Nice trout. Minimal throw backs!

Great weekend on Breton Sound. The Marker 54 Shrimplets outfished the live shrimp.

Will be headed back soon. Wanted to fish Gosher and Chandeleur but never made it that far.

PS: Whats the deal with people trying to fish on top of you when you catching fish. If your cast can over lap mine (and get hung up), your to close to me. And guides out of Venice seem to be worse than anywhere else.

Glad you did well. I have too much trouble with the Shrimplets out there with the small hook it breaks too much, use them in the fall though. I am a firm believer in the Marker 54 glide and jerk models though, bigger hook and last forever.

Never broke a shrimplet hook. Have bent a few up that I had to straighten. We did have the bigger Marker 54 but the Shrimplet seemed to do better.

So marker 54 has bigger shrimp and smaller ones called shrimplets? I have used them but guess I was using the bigger ones. Wasn’t aware they had 2 different types. I need to get some more actually before I go to coast next weekend so this is a good reminder. My favorite artificial baits right now.

Yep. 4Horseman came out with smaller version of the boom boom shrimp too. DOA has 2.75” shrimp as well
