About to watch this when I get home. I hate it when they do these things during church.

Square Enix finishing its transition away from solely making PS exclusives with the FF announcements.

Game Pass keeps getting better.

Apparently Game Freak, which is making "Beast of Incarnation," is co-owner of the Pokémon Company alongside Nintendo? Definitely didn't see that coming.

Games prices over time are a funny thing. I can remember most 8 bit games being around 39.99-49.99. 16 bit era we started seeing some game go up to outrageous prices like 69.00 to 79.00 but most stayed in the 49.99 range. Then as CD rom came out the prices went back to 39.99-49.00. N-64 carts some went back up to 79.99 . Then 49.99-59.99 settled in for several generations.

I don't mind paying 70-100 dollars for a game if it releases free of major bugs and is complete day one.

You know that's not going to be the case though, and the game will still have mountains of microtransactions and "DLC."

Publishers want their cake and to eat it too.

It is a bad idea to equate length with price though. You might think an 80 hour game would justify an 80 dollar price tag, but publishers will start requiring developers pad out their game length more than they already do as a means to justify the price.

I may buy one or two new full priced games a year and its usually from a smaller studio that I just want to support instead of waiting for a sale or Gamepass. I have no problem waiting 6 months to a year for most games as my back log of want to play is always like 20 games deep.

Yea I hope that doesnt become the case. We've started to see a bit of resurgence of the 15-30 hour single player games and I hope that trend continues. That the sweet spot for me as far as game length.

It is wild that Outer Worlds 2 is their poster child for this.

The first game was essentially a gussied up "AA" game. I hope this means that there's more meat to the sequel, but Avowed didn't impress me at all.

We are really derailing the OP but yea I remember there were a few 8 bit games that sold for that amount. Phantasy Star on Sega Master System was also high priced. Some retailers especially dept stores had high mark ups too.

This is where I am with it too.

Honestly, $80-$100 games is just about the best advertisement for Game Pass I've ever seen. You can play nearly every one of the games from the XBox Games Showcase on day one with Game Pass without having to pay anything extra for them.
