Elons motivation for supporting Trump was self preservation, not ideological reasons.
He stated several times before the election that if the Dems won, he would probably end up in prison.
Remember how hard the Dems were going after him once he bought Twitter and opened it up???
Elon has now exposed how shallow his belief is in America First ideas. He's soley concerned with Elon First.

Not ideological? You mean not completely 100% in alignment with Trump's ideology. There is clearly ideologic alignment on many things. You can support a candidate and not agree with them all of the time.

Follow the money. Elon thought the $7500 tax credit was going to stay because Teslas are almost entirely sourced in the US. The Big Beautiful Bill appears to say we don't give a shite if EVs are made here or not, the $7500 that goes to Tesla when taking possession of your vehicle will soon be $0.00. That screws over Elon because if anyone has purchased a Tesla recently, they can tell you that Tesla adds some bullshite delivery fees etc to zap and wash this $7500. Was free money to Elon, now he'll have to drop a lot of these bullshite fees.

Nah, I think the bill is a garbage bill for a multitude of reasons The ban on any kind of AI regulation, the the blown up deficit (not CBO's claim but the bill itself explicitly expands the deficit), The medicare fee schedule changes are designed to hobble the program.
