Just got a Coyote 30” drop-in griddle installed. So ready to use it. What’s the best oil and process to season this thing up before my first cook. Also, do y’all apply any oil after cleaning? Griddle still need to be hot? TIA

I wanted to sugggest you follow the instructions in the manual, but I looked up the manual and it has no instructions for seasoning or any real details for the routine cleaning/maintenance of the cooking surface other than scraping. Not sure why a manual could not provide more detailed instructions.

I did find this YouTube video:

I haven't seasoned such material in a long time, but crisco (blue can, not the green "healthy" can) used to be considered the best. Very light coat, less than you think you need. Otherwise it will catch on fire and scorch instead of season. And your first few cooks will fill the neighborhood with fresh popcorn smell. But it works and lasts a very long time.

Avocado Oil it's smoke point is above 500° F

I use butter before cooking then water to clean the light coat of Avocado oil.

Multiple thin coats work best .

And yet you’ve shared nothing except your assholeness. You haven’t learned how to communicate properly apparently. Sorry about that for you. I mean asking a question on a food board….who would have thought asking for what has worked for people would be a trigger for you.

Thanks for sharing. I had a Blackstone before but that’s cast iron. I wasn’t sure if there was a difference seasoning the 304 stainless steel. Just wanna keep it clean for the next cook!! Thanks!

I used grape seed on my Traeger and it has held up very well.

Is it stainless? If so, no need to season it.

I have a stainless Le Griddle and as soon as I’m done cooking I throw ice cubes on it and start scraping. I finish with a scotch brite pad and it looks brand new after every use.

So yours doesn’t stick without seasoning it? Again, I’m new to the stainless griddle

I still have to use oils when cooking to prevent sticking but I think the main reason for seasoning the cast iron griddles is to prevent rusting.

Here’s a video on how Le Griddle recommends cleaning their flat top. I’m sure the same method works on any stainless griddle. LINK
