Titanic.

This topic came up at work today. Rose cheats on her fiancé with Jack. It's framed as this epic love story, and it's accepted because Leo is poor and endearing while Billy Zane's character is rude and snobby. But at the end of the day it's still cheating.

The guys I work with gave a few other good examples, but I'll hold off on posting to see what ya'll come up with. What other "classic" romances are like this?

The Wedding Planner

It's supposed to be the whole "but they found the right person in the end" trope when the groom and the wedding planner gets together at the end while the bride gets to ride off to some swanky solo vacation. When in reality, McConaughey is a cheating a-hole who was literally swayed by having to save J.Lo's dumbass from almost getting crushed by a dumpster and J.Lo has horrific business ethics. Who the hell wants to hire a Wedding Planner that's going to steal your man?

She sure did, but I think she gets a pass on the cheating thing. Bro one died, bro two (Pitt) left for years and told her to move on, then Bro three stepped in. Why she didnt just move back home as opposed to hanging out with Anthony Hopkins in the middle of nowhere was curious.

Sweet Home Alabama

EIther way you look at it. First, she's still legally married when she gets engaged. Even if you're ok with that, she goes back to the husband and leaves Patrick Dempsey at the altar. Cold blooded.

May be shorter to list ones that don't

But, Sleepless in Seattle for the sake of adding to the list.

Did she ever do it with Samuel? I know he said they planned "to be together", but I don't remember if they ever consummated before he went off to the war.

The Notebook

More direct. She actually bones Gosling and James Marsden sits there with his over the top southern accent and basically forgives her.

For some reason I read this as "The Wedding Singer" and I was all confused.

But The Wedding Singer works for this question too.

The Notebook

The Notebook is pure fiction... no woman is picking some broke loser who lives in a construction site over a rich, handsome man with status, air conditioning and a retirement plan.

Unfaithful

Frenchie got what he deserved, but Diane Lane's character should have gotten her arse kicked.

Good ones. The Notebook was the big one that came up at work.

I thought of Wedding Crashers too, though it’s def a comedy and not a romance movie.
