So I know a bunch have asked where to get a dexa scan at in south LA, well the specialist physical therapy in lafayette has one
they also got a new proteus motion machine for athletic training and testing. If you have a kid playing baseball, tennis, golf and want a run down on where they are weak at and what areas they can work to improve from physical strength/power standpoint...get the cressey performance test done
anyways..I just found the place about 2 weeks ago and figured I would let the rest of yall know about them

How much of this is useful right before or in early puberty? I can see it maybe mid-puberty, but it feels like no hair in the armpits would be a bit early. I can't tell from their site what they focus on for teenagers.

Tulane med school does them for free if you’re okay with the data collected being used for an osteoporosis study. When I did it, they gave me a $25 Amazon gift card for doing it. Not sure if that’s still the case.

depends...are you training them now? i.e. are they lifitng? because if not, then dont worry about it as you can get the same trainign effect with very simple plan of med ball throwing, sprinting, db vertical and broad jumps and simple weight training even before puberty
like my 9/12/13 year olds lift and have for a while. Now it would not be useful info for my 9 year old...he weighs 70 lbs...but for my 12 year old who has been training for a while...yea its useful.
you can do the same thing with med ball and a tape measure if you understand how to do a velocity profile. but for me its very easy to have that done on the proteus and it tells me what i need to program to bring his weaknesses up
but remember....unless they are outrageously strong, can never go wrong with just getting stronger because all the velocity zones are just a percentage of max strength. Getting stronger relative to bodyweight, putting on muscle and working on movement quality through crawls and other basic movement patterns goes a long long ways
but i will say for a HS athelte...it can help alot. especially if already strong.

I went to Tulane and did the study this week. They said their goal is to get 20,000 patients. There have been a little over 17,000 participants thus far, so they asked me to spread the word and have more people participate. Took a little over an hour and I got the results back in a couple of days. They still do the $25 gift card.
It was well worth the time for the free body composition report.

I used the Dexa scan at The Specialist.
They also have some medical device that lets you know your exact Basal Metabolic Rate.
It really helps to know exactly how to count your calories and more specific protein calorie intake.
Lauren the NP does a great job getting hormones in check through a comprehensive blood panel.
I actually use all their services. Chris Davis is the best on the planet for getting people out of pain. Big fan of the concept for better health and optimal performance.
