Anyone watched this flick with Nicolas Cage?

I watched it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. It has kind of a silence of the lambs vibe. Cage has minimal screen time but does his thing. The female detective is the same lead as It Follows" 2014

It's a solid horror flick. Some really great stuff, but some absurdities as well that keep it from reaching It's full potential.

Overhyped. Found it to be boring tbh.

I found the plot /resolution kind of half thought and not that well written. Looks great, very creepy and some really interesting visuals and keeping the creepy/mysterious vibes going, but by the end of it there really isn’t that much crazy horror in there and it’s more of a psychological thriller with jump scares mixed in, which makes the marketing push they did with people puking in the theaters and all that seem really silly

Cage’s performance will make or break the movie for most, as well as the last 15 minutes of the movie.

It's your typical modern horror movie with an interesting premise, very good style, and a "throw shite against the wall, eat the shite, shite out the shite, and then throw the shite scion against the wall" ending.

I thought the movie was terrible.

It had great visuals, but it had no idea what it wanted to be.

Psychological killer vs supernatural

It just didn’t come across as well written.

The director, photography and Monroe did a good job without much to work with. Monroe is a very undeterred actress.

That's just modern horror. They can come up with a concept for an unresolved short story, but can't create an ending.

A modern horror movie that nails the ending is so rare and so impactful. That's why Hereditary, The Wailing, Kill List, Final Prayer, and a few others are held in such high regard by those who matter (and I mean this in contrast to your typical horror fan, who often have horrible taste and pretend its all good and support movies like the Terrifier franchise).

I shite on Millennial horror a lot, but at least they had endings.

The other recurring theme with modern horror is forgetting to be scary (The Witch holds the crown).

I watched it without any context of who was in it or the plot..

When he goes "mooommmyyy . . . Daaadddyyy" I had an oh shite that's Nicholas Cage! Moment..

Last act was bad.. but the rest fun.

ETA: Longlegs was just okay. Not very good but also not a waste of time. Cage was creepy enough. My main issue with it was that it was just sort of boring.

I normally respect your taste in horror movies, but I have to agree to disagree on The Witch and Terrifier (which I view as just hopping on a roller coaster).

Agreed on Longlegs. I “liked it”, even on a rewatch, but the final act was very disjointed.

I don't think the Witch is a bad movie. I just said it wasn't scary

The first Terrifier was fine for what it was, but 2 sequels are absurd. Leave that for a godless, uncultured era like the 80s
