Built In Ice Makers/Fridge

The wife and I are looking to add another 3 ft counter in our kitchen and are wanting to get an ice maker built into the cabinetry below. Looking for recommendations. Ideally would like one that has fridge space too. TIA

We replaced the trash compactor with a commercial grade Scotsman, that thing is the ice champion. It requires cleaning and descaling every few months, which I learned how to do myself with Youtube videos.
I put multiple cheap ice machines/fridges in that space before and they all broke down. No regrets on this very expensive upgrade -

All ice machines need maintence.
The Kitchenaid/Kenmore/GE (yes all the same) are the most common. They all use a wire cutting grid. But they have the most issues.
Scottsman are my favorite for least issues but the Hoshizaki nugget ice is the best.

Had a U-Line under counter refrigerator with a conventional ice maker. Very nice with a cabinet matching front. Website says they make a 21” and a 24”. They also make dedicated ice makers. From their site:
Choosing the perfect ice machine for your home begins with selecting a reputable brand. U-Line, a pioneer in residential ice makers since 1962, offers reliable and efficient machines that seamlessly integrate advanced technology with innovative design. Start by assessing your daily ice needs, considering household size, and entertaining habits. Whether you prefer crescent-shaped ice for daily beverages, crystal-clear cubes for cocktails, nugget ice for soft drinks, or craft clear ice for spirits. U-Line has you covered. Next, consider the space for your machine, ensuring it fits well and provides easy access to water, drain lines, and electricity for optimal performance. With U-Line, finding a machine that elevates your lifestyle is simple.
Be aware that they are $$.

Samsung refrigerator is the worst when it comes to ice makers….it broke after 3 years and it is impossible to find someone to fix it….

I have the Kitchenaid, and yes, have had issues. It pretty much runs when it wants to, I would avoid.

Dont do it unless you use a shite ton of ice
They break and require constant maintenance
Its much cheaper to just pay $2 for a bag of ice when you need a lot of ice

This is the exact problem I fixed. The Scotsman has been a champ, I never think about ice. Do I have enough ice? Yup.

The maintenace is every 3-6 months. It takes about 30 minutes. My machine has run for nearly 10 years and never required professional service.

Scottsman top hot ice maker here. Been flawless for ten years but it is properly maintained and never put a bottle of wine in the hopper to chill. The labels and glue on the bottles will foul up the works.

Forgot about this company. Installed one of their wine coolers in another house several years ago. Had no problems for the two years we were there after installation.
