We saw Lilio & Stitch last night, solid family movie (maybe spoilers?)

Look, everyone can pick any movie apart. This is a family movie, not an Oscar candidate. There are no real spoilers if you saw the cartoon.
Stitch looked great, kids were cracking up and having a great time all over the theater, which was packed. There were a few moments where actors didn't do a great job interacting with the CGI, but the moments with Lilo were legit.
Having the OG David, Nani, old lady, and Stitch in the movie were a great nod.
Lilo is freaking adorable and Nani is gorgeous. Pretty good casting.
The old lady neighbor, Tutu, was a great character to add.
The relationship between Nani and Lilo seemed real. My wife was bawling and there may have been dust in the air, and I can confirm I heard sniffles in the theater.
Cobra Bubbles would have been better if they could have scheduled Ving Rhames, but the new guy was fine. They split his role for the movie to add Tia Carrere as a social worker, which I was okay with.
The aliens were fine, one of my kids didn't like that they took human form vs. the way they just wore silly costumes in the cartoon, but I get why they did this for a live action. He also didn't like how they changed up Jumba's role in the movie, but it was fine. Zach G. is probably the weak link in the film, which was surprising.
Zero political crap other than subtle Hawaii/America jabs, but to me that's part of being Hawaiian. No overt callouts to any genders, parties, politicians, or anything pointless to the plot compared to the original.
The minor tweaks to the plot didn't change the movie. Some will like it, some won't. Kids are going to love it.
I give it a solid 8 out of 10 for what it was supposed to be. I am happy it honored the source material as much as it did.

My biggest concern with this have been the changes to Cobra Bubbles as well as the lack of Gantu. Still probably going to see it since the original was such a big part of my childhood

Yep, the kinda combined Gantu and Jumba to simplify it. My kids said they wished the shark-guy was in it, too.

Will still end up being the best live action disney film to date...

Watched it today with the kids . Ending kind of cheapened the whole ohana mentality. Also I felt it missed the character development getting stitch to turn good with the Elvis montage like the cartoon.

I still think that honor belongs to 2015's Cinderella.

Fun fact…. Voice of Lilo was Daveigh Chase, who also voiced Chihiro in the dub of Spirited Away

How would you rate it as appropriate for a 4.5 year old?
He’s yet to go to the theater, I’ve been holding out for the next Toy Story next year.
He’s seen Toy Story 1-4, Croods, Lion King, Beusty and the Beast, Tangled, Frozen, Homeward Bound, etc
Would he like it?

I don’t think there’s any content to worry about. One guy says “what the hell,” but hell isn’t emphasized and it’s purposely faded.
It’s not really scary.
It’s almost 2 hours long. Attention span might be the challenge.
Stitch is cute and funny enough id say do it. Make a core memory.

It was pretty clear tutu was ohana in the movie. I get what you are saying but it allowed for nani to pursue her dream, which was her parents’ dream for her.

The original had a male alien in drag so you might be too triggered to watch it

Only you if you go see it.

This was my take. It seems like people want a shot for shot remake with these movies. I enjoyed it. Laughed probably a little to hard at the alien going through the floor repeatedly.
