Holy cow, that dude has the worst case I have ever seen of being obsessed with Trump. For the last 9 years, even when Trump was not president, you could count on at least 15 minutes of his 60 minute segment to be about Trump.

“I always think, ‘What would Seth Meyers do?'” Macdonald said. “Because if you really want to be really funny, then that’s what you want to do. You want to think, ‘What would make Seth Meyers laugh?’ That’s how I live my life.””- Norm Macdonald

Meyers, Kimmel, Colbert, and that fat british cigarette guy ruined late night comedy shows forever, mostly with their TDS.

I cant imagine anybody watches that bullshite.

Johnny Carson is the most missed movie or tv personality in the history of entertainment for any one sector.

Back when these shows were popular there was not a lot of other stuff on TV at that time. I seriously don't know how they can survive with all of the streaming services out there people can choose from.

He is low hanging fruit but all late night hosts are obsessed with him, not just Meyers.

you would thing that a doddering 80 year old man who couldnt remember what happened that morning, routinely fell down in public, and couldnt get a sentence out would be even lower hanging fruit, but i dont remember hearing many jokes about any of that

He has a niche audience in a time-slot that has lost its cache due to the availability of streaming. You won't see a Letterman or Conan in that hour because there are way too many alternatives and opportunities for current talk-comedians of their caliber. So you have Meyers shooting at fish in a small barrel, hoping to do well in that lesser demographic. And if you need an additional explanation of his fixation, the biggest news out of Meyers' show this year was when Trump lashed out at Meyers in January. The show's biggest failure is that Trump hasn't noticed him since.

Late Night never recovered from Conan's exit. Everyone fixated on the battle over the Tonight Show. The biggest casualty from that fight was Late Night.

This. Feel like most night owls are just throwing on a streaming show these days rather than watching these white guilt bitches hosting late night shows every night.

It's a shame. They used to be great shows 15-20 years ago. I watched more late night tv in 2 years of college apartment life than have in the last 15 years combined.

Yep. It was pretty much all reruns of shows on cable at that time. I usually would flip between Comedy Central and Conan. Speaking of Comedy Central…boy, did they frick up big or what? Comedy is having a huge renaissance right now and they barely have any good or new content. They used to have so much good content that it was one of the main channels that I watched. Standup comedians were dying to get a special on it. They were giving comedians chances with their own shows too. Such a shame.

That's one joke. Trump will rename a body of water, install a wildly controversial appointee, and threaten an ally, all before breakfast. The fricker tweets attacks on Beyonce in the middle of the night. How the frick can you people praise him for his guns-blazing, frick-the-political-norm, attack-everyone work ethic and then be surprised when comedians ride that wave? Nixon and Clinton were the last two presidents to give comedians a steady feed of straight lines. They were NOTHING compared to Trump.
