Hood Vent - fan/motor replacement

Anyone ever replace just the fan or motor? I like the hood we have. It’s old, but we will be renovating in a few years. No need to spend a ton on a new hood right now. Only problem with the current setup is that the fan itself rattles and has likely reached its useful life.

Depends on the brand. Lower tier hoods use a shaded pole motor with bushings that wear over time, generally not repairable. Higher end hoods will use motors with ball bearings, which last much longer and can be replaced.
The other thing that can cause vibration is dirt/dust/grease buildup on the fan
blades.
Brand & model of hood would be helpful for more specific answers.

The blower wheel if probably full of grease also.

Mine is a Maytag about 35 years old, is a fine quality recessed stainless steel hood vent system, and it has the sound of worn bearings at other than high speed. It has a variable speed touchpad. I’d like to fix mine as well and the model number is not visible. I may have to just take it apart.

There are inline, attic installed / mounted motors. May be able to just add that into your system. My buddy installed one and says it is strong and quiet.
