LSU (15-4), which saw its three-game winning streak snapped, shot 32 percent (10-for-31) in the second half and was outrebounded 40-27 “and bottom line, 40-27 is the difference in the game,” Johnson said.
Did the players not want this one? What happened?

shut the frick up. you proved you know absolutely nothing about basketball when you said lsu couldn't handle a 4 guard offense. youve never gone back and addressed any of those points you made either about why lsu would lose to miss st.

you said this:

LSU will lose to Miss State........ (Posted on 1/19 at 1:50 p.m.)
wed night because....
LSU cannot keep up with a 4 guard offense. This will wear LSU down and not be able to keep up in the last minutes.
A LSU zone will not stop the 3 point bombardment that State has.
LSU will not be able to run the floor with the 4 guards.
LSU will not be able to score inside as the # 1 shot blocker will be inside to stop their scoring.
LSU cannot hit the 3 point shot with consistency.
LSU has not played in any or maybe only one game under pressure to win like this one, for the leader of the SEC West.
LSU is not a good free throw shooter as State.
LSU will out rebound State, but so did other teams that lost to State.

Your stats show some of what happened in the game. Missed alot of shots and let them win inside.
The Tigers almost pulled it off and it would have been a great win for them.
I do not think Xavier had any height advantage but more in the weight and girth on the inside.

You previously said LSU would get blown out by South Carolina and that they would lose to Miss St based on claims that were simply not true. Since you won't come back and talk about those victories, why should anyone give you the time of day to talk about a loss? You must be a pretty miserable person in general. You certainly won't start a thread after an impressive LSU victory, but you will certainly start one up after things don't go there way. Pathetic.

In most games there will be a rebound difference in favor of the winner.
I was glad that our TO's were much less than Xavier's. We still lost, but if it hadn't been for all those TO's we were getting during that dry spell, Xavier could have pulled way ahead.

I thought you were some big time basketball coach. You tell us.

To me, and I had plenty to drink, it appeared that our strategy was to take bad shots and let Marcus hog the ball. I should have won a ton of money last night because every time Marcus touched the ball, I stated "10 bucks he shoots it". And he did every time. He should have had 50 points with as many shots that he took.

When you break it down basketball is fairly simple.
My son's AAU coach has me track two stats. Team offensive and defensive rebounds and team turnovers. If you win those two stats you win the game, period. You can overcome bad shooting by taking care of the ball and limiting your opponents possessions.

LSU took care of the ball, they simply missed some easy shots during that rough stretch. They had 5-6 shots that rimmed out and those had been falling the last three games. If two of those shots fall and LSU makes a couple more free throws, then we have a very close game. Xavier was obviously a deeper team with more big game experience and they executed better in the 2nd half.

I agree Stromile...but...40-27 on the boards is domination and difficult to overcome. That's a lot of extra opportunities for Xavier.
You are correct about Xavier. They are an excellent team and are very well coached. It took a miracle for Ohio State to beat them two years ago and that Ohio State team was NCAA runnerup.

Never said SC would blow out LSU. Show where I said that and I'll buy you a case of beer.
Did I want Ms State to win. No. But I did think LSU would have trouble with the 4 guard offense. Remember LSU has got to go to State and after the loss here, the game at State will be for the SEC West......
and yes, I am a miserable person in general...
and which game that LSU played in that they were not suppose to win was impressive....?
and why did the game not go their way? Was it the players or the coach? Pathetic playing or coaching?

On Jan 14th, you predicted SC would beat LSU 71-54. You then predicted LSU to lose to MSU. It's pretty obvious you would eventually be right if you picked against LSU every game. Both State and SC will likely finish in the top half of the SEC and LSU blew both of them out of the PMAC.

Stro,
I saw a lot of good things happening for LSU. The players never quit and Xavier is just better than we are right now. I came away from the geme beleiving we have the right coach for the job. When Marcus took that wild shot that started our drought, he came out of the game. Xavier beat us down in the paint and from the line. Xavier was supposed struggle from the free throw line and they went 20 for 24. We only shot 12 of 19. Number 5 Brown is a player. He made a lot of big shots for them.
I am still excited about LSU basketball's future and hope the LSU fans get back behind the team as it was in the 1980's.

Stro, you can't tell Brady....er, I mean Bobby, anything. He doesn't want to talk about the realities of the game, the matchups, or even the talent/depth differentials. He just wants to bag on the team and coach so let him be.
