Tell me about GISP please. Never been there but thinking about driving down Saturday to do some exploring and possibly fishing from the beach.

I used to love going down there for the week and loading up on crabs and trout. It's a nice spot

Haven't stayed there since Ida though

But as mentioned if you're just going down for the day you don't need to go all the way to the state park to fish on the beach

Not sure what the rules are for the State Park, but if you opt to go to Elmer's island, bring a wagon, cart, something. They have bollards up to keep folks from driving on beach. It's a pretty good distance from the surf.

I do as well...used to be able to drive out on the Fourchon beach all the way to Belle Pass...and a long way up the beach towards Elmers Island...

we would camp out on the beach or sometimes just make a fire at the Belle Pass rock jetty and "fish" all night long...

the flounder gigging back then was phenomenal...

back then there was a couple of hundred yards of beach from when you hit the beach into the gulf...

It's a pretty good distance from the surf.

Pretty sure from now until end of summer they have a few guys running carts to take people back and forth to the beach from parking lot.

Just spent a week at GISP in a tent. With A/C. Very nice. Clean. Nice folks. I’d drive to the crossovers to get to the to the beach. 33.00 per night.

before storms shifted the sand at pier - used to be easy limits at night.

and Yeah Fourchon beach - damned shame we can't access that anymore.

There are tents with A/C you can rent?

No, probably meant he has his own tent with AC, at $33/night that means he just rented one of the RV spots to have electricity. The primative tent spots on the beach sites are $18/night.

Correct. I bought a 8-10 person tent from Amazon. Rented an RV spot. You get water and electricity. Hooked up a 10,000 BTU Portable. High cotton.
