Ok so for a third time, I am asking for your support. Previously y'all have given tips on Calvert Crossing and Oakwing and they helped quite a bit. Now on to Chennault.

It looks like I am going to spend more in gas money getting there and back than the cost of what a normal green fee is. So I am not expecting much here out of this course. But I'm in a Ryder Cup style points race so I'm going almost for the points. The course does not even have a website so I'm clueless.

Any tips on the course layout/strategy would be appreciated. Is the course in halfway decent shape?

Most likely will be playing from the one up tees. I hit it pretty far but have no issue going with my 3H off the tee since it's a rocket launcher. My typical debate is whether or not to carry a LW or 4H as my 14th club. If there is a fair amount of bunkers I'll go LW but if there's a chance for 225-235 yard shots I got 4H.

TIA for the help fellas, let's get me some points!

There are no bunkers to speak of. Honestly, I can only think of a few holes with bunkers. #8,#9, #10. Par 5's are long, par 4's are short, par 3's are long.

I would keep the 4H in the bag. Only one hole dog legs to the right, the rest dog leg left. Course isnt usually in great shape but playable enough to have a good time. Greens are small for the most part and elevated. They are typically pretty slow as well, so hit it a little harder than you would think.

#1 - Stay on the right side of the fairway but left will still be fine.
#2 - 2nd shot, short is better than long
#3 - Fairway bunker straight ahead. You can cut the corner but I usually hit it short enough to hit a 3 wood close enough for a pitch on
#4 - Right is trouble
#5 - You can reach the ditch going across the fairway, so play it short
#6 - Easy Par 5 with a large green. left is better than right on the fairway
#7 - Dont go long on your 2nd shot. Stay close to the cart path for an easy pitch
#8 - Long par3 bunker on left. Stay right and long is ok
#9 - Bunker and water left on approach shot, short is better than long

#10 - Long Par5 but can reach with a strong 3 wood. Left is best
#11 - Easy hole, but terrible green typically
#12 - Stay right of the big tree in the middle of the fairway. Good drive makes this an easy hole
#13 - Dont go right off the tee and you will be fine. Much harder if you go long on approach
#14 - Hate this hole. Good luck
#15 - Dog leg left, Straight or right and you are in the woods in bad shape
#16 - Left is fine and easy up and down from fairway
#17 - 600+ Par 5. Keep right on drive if you have to choose. Left and you may not cover the dog leg and that will waste a shot. Big green and usually in good shape
#18 - Easiest hole on the course. Straight and approach is fine long or straight.

Good Luck

Bring some serious mosquito dope!!!

Course is flat, just keep it between the tree lined fairways.

The greens are pretty simple and are east two-putt and go greens.

Water does come into play on a few holes but it just runs alongside the holes, no forced carries.

It has been years since I played there so I have no clue about the condition, but don’t have high expectations.

No rough to speak of but plenty of trees.

It's my first year and only 3 tournaments in and already I'd highly recommend it. Tournaments are really well done. I'm in the North LA one so the only drawback is that overall compared to other areas, the courses aren't quite as quality but it's still a fun time. It's competitive so it gets the juices flowing but nobody I've played with has taken themselves too seriously.

If you join you can play on any of them across the country if you wanted too. I'm going to play at the Pine Dunes one on the Dallas tour in July. Been wanting to play that course for a while.

I disagree with this being the easiest hole. It's a 450 yard par 4. In my opinion 6 is by far the easiest hole with it being really capable of reaching home in 2.

You're not wrong. #6 isnt bad as long you clear the ditch on the tee shot and not slice it into the trees. I actually eagled that hole during golf tryouts my senior year (2001) and made the golf team because of it. Went on to shot a 120 at state lol.

#18 just always seems like an easy hole to me. Maybe because I have given up at that point

first time I broke 70 and one of only a handful of times. was about a 220 yard 2 iron that was bladed and ran in for an eagle on 18.

But that was about 91

I played Chennault every day, a lot of times twice. Would write a 2.65 check to play. I don’t know how many miles I walked around that place but it was a bunch

Last time I played it was 20 years ago and it was unplayable. For us it was the nice course, you only played there after a couple years at Selman!!

Good reading the reviews here

The first several rounds of golf I ever played were at Selman. Dropped off in the morning and picked up on my moms way home from work. Chennault was an upgrade and played it for years. Moved up to better courses as I got older but Chennault was where I really started to enjoy playing and play it a few times a year for nostalgia more than anything.

If you logged that many miles out at Chennault in that time period we probably have crossed paths. I worked out there a few Summers. I actually think it was 94 and 95. It was when Led was pro. Bounced between there and BDCC mainly just to be able to play golf when I wanted. I played pretty much every day after work. Oddly enough Willie and Jase Robertson played out there a bunch back then. There was a herd of us that would play in the afternoons. It was fun. I still
go out there and play when I come home just to see what has changed and what hasn't. Luckly the course hasn't changed much. The pro shop changed but that was done years ago.

Solid reviews here. Course isn't all that difficult unless you are spraying drives all over then you will be in the trees, but even then, that isn't a round killer since it is fairly open under the canopy. It also isn't a long course, so nuking drives isn't a huge advantage except for maybe the par 5's. Greens well that is another story. I played out there last Fall and they were in bad shape. Like surface of the moon bad. Maybe they are better now?

The Best Tip I have is almost every putt on the golf course is straight. Do not play a break unless its obvious. always hit it inside the hole.
On #11 its better to be short and chipping on this par 3 than missing it left or right.
