Cali and other blue states will DEFINITELY not adopt these practices.

Im on record, on this site the past 2 years stating Mississippi has been looking great. When I drove through I was overly impressed with how clean and nice everything was.
Hell, I thought about one day moving to Gulfport.
Ill never not live in the South and I dont want to live with all white people, its boring.

Basically a phonics based language/reading curriculum with emphasis on the 3 Rs. No touchy-feely bullshite.

If the state elimination of
Income tax stays intact, I see certain areas of Ms exploding.

They started faking test results.

frick you.
It’s called the Literacy Based Promotion Act. A part of it is that if a student can’t read to a third grade level at the end of third grade, then they don’t get passed to fourth grade. And if a student needs some additional help, they get it. The students aren’t just passed to get them out of a grade.

This is amazing:
In 2003, only the District of Columbia had more fourth graders in the lowest achievement level on our national reading test (NAEP) than Mississippi.1 By 2024, only four states had fewer.
When the Urban Institute adjusted national test results2 for student demographics, this is where Mississippi ranked:
Fourth grade math: 1st
Fourth grade reading: 1st
Eighth grade math: 1st
Eighth grade reading: 4th
Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama climbed the charts because they focused on core academic instruction when much of the country used ESSA as an excuse to focus on anything and everything else. It paid off.

Melt!

A century of democrat rule left the state cemented at the bottom of education rankings.
A decade after republicans get the supermajority the education rankings rocket up.
You are missing The View. You better get back.

And who exactly is faking the scores?

While Georgia’s largest district, Atlanta, was embroiled in a widespread cheating scandal at the same time, Sass, an economics and public policy professor, and his colleagues began to track the consequences of cheating on students in Atlanta and another, undisclosed district.
Now who runs Atlanta?

In 2011, news reports exposed widespread anomalies in New York State Regents math and science tests, the standardized tests required at the end of many core-subject classes for students to graduate.
Now who runs New York??

Ahhhhh the ole downvote and scram.

quote:If its the truth, you need to back it up with a credible link. I'm wondering how this is happening too. But, the guy who responded to you made a good point. If you only make it to 4th grade if you've actually earned it rather than getting a social promotion, they are selecting out for smarter kids.
