Off season random question, did 1989 Football team have fight on plane home from Uk?

OK, old man here, looking for some insights. 1989 LSU was beginning of end for Archer who had great 87-88, was there really a fist fight on Plane after loss to UK in 89? Tony Moss, Hodson et al? Anyone have details?

I was 13 and remember the loss. My big cousin also said there was a fistfight. I’m sorry, but we don’t know details.

This is true and the basketball team whipped the football teams arse. This isn’t through the grapevine, I witnessed it myself.

I might not be remembering things correctly but I believe there were more than a couple people that thought the 89 team could have won a NC

The ‘89 football team was ranked 6th nationally in the preseason. It was Tommy Hodson’s senior year at QB.
The ‘89-90 basketball team had Chris Jackson, Shaq and Stanley Roberts, and, yes, they were considered serious national title contenders.
The football team went 4-7. The basketball team finished 3rd in the SEC, got a 5 seed in the NCAA tournament and lost in the second round.
I’d say both teams were big disappointments.

on a side note, one of the most stupid LSU administration decisions was then AD Bob Broadhead approving players from the 1985 football team to drive their personal vehicles to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl. 
Half the team showed up drunk and stoned. LSU was 9-1-1 and ranked 10th. On paper Baylor didn't have a chance. Instead, LSU got embarrassed as the game wasn't even close. Offense didn't score a point and only had 91 yds. rushing with Hilliard and James in the backfield. Baylor had 489 total yds, to LSU's 192. Only bright spot was Norman Jefferson returning a punt for a 79 yd TD. What a clusterfuk that game and decision was

I was at that Liberty Bowl game. That was miserable. We lost to Baylor in freezing cold weather.

1989, I was 8 years old, and my first season going to games. That team had a few games that could've gone either way

No. That was six years later.
1989 was the first of a record six straight losing campaigns for LSU football. LSU was already 1-4 that year before playing Kentucky. The plane fight, like the postgame fight @ FSU the next year, were symptoms, not the cause, of a dysfunctional LSU football program. Things only got worse in 1991 with the arrival of Camp Curley.

Yea. That fight at Broussard Hall happened the week of the Miss State game in 1991, first year of Camp Curley

UK was always the game that signified either a good or bad year for us depending on the outcome. The Dinardo year at home when Hal Mumme toyed with us was not a good year.
