Who will be why starting safety next to AJ Haulcy?

I truly think spears will win the 2nd safety job. By all accounts he was by far the best cover safety in camp. Kid was a former top 60 recruit I think him taking the next step and seizing a spot increases the ceiling of our defense. I know we brought in Cooley but imo he’s more a nickel than a deep safety. Spears as a deep safety next to AJ would be an elite tandem potentially if spears takes the next step.

Nc st kid, 1 yr assassins that allow us to develop the recruits / younger guys. Gilbert and spears will rotate, and allow fr to redshirt.

Don’t know if Cooley is a true safety tho. He’s more of a nickel. Blake ruffino said spears has outplayed him in camp and has looked better in coverage.

Toviano is just my guess. I think Cooley finds his home at Nickel where he was really good at for NC State.

Maybe. If Harold Perkins is on the field every play, Cooley will likely get more time at one of the traditional safety positions.

okay dont ask then. Just say he is your favorite player and why you think he will win the job next season over more proven guys.

I hope this lets Gilbert move to a hybrid role and be an in box thumper.
