Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.
The cruise is 7 days beginning and ending in Reykjavik.

Take Dramamine with you. Those waters can get rough.

That will be fun.
Make sure you do the blue lagoon. Sure it’s touristy but it’s very refreshing .
Walk around in the lagoon and find a little nook for some privacy away from the hoard of people .
That’s what I did when I was there and just chilled for like an hour completely undisturbed . It was so peaceful and helped me with the jet lag
I still buy the lava scrub face mask for use several years later . I’m not a boujee person but I splurge on those cosmetics and it makes my skin so soft

Scenery was unreal, especially around Isafjordur and Akureyri. Ship was super comfy, and excursions were well organized (but pricey). Pack layers and a good rain jacket; weather changes fast. Definitely recommend getting out into nature whenever you can.

I'm taking this trip soon, too. Bookmarking for future.

Blue Lagoon is fun, not sure if you can access it. Sky Lagoon is excellent also.
How many days will you be in Reykjavik? There are many good day tours from there - waterfalls, geysers, glaciers etc.

I haven’t been to Iceland but I just got back from my second Viking river cruise in the past 13 months. Viking has everything running like clockwork. First class all the way.

Hi. We are doing Viking's Majestic Iceland cruise, Bergen to Reykjavik in August.
Posting some notes from a travel forum I"m asking questions on, which will partly impact your cruise.
Bergen to Reykjavik in August 2025
Notes:
1/2 day train ride in Flam. We did this cruise last August but Reykjavik to Bergen. Northern Icelands Natural Treasures was good. We did the Southern tour instead of the circle tour. We went to the black beaches in the south of Iceland. All thru Viking. I use my cane for walking and not to strenuous.
We did that cruise last August (it was amazing!). We tried to not stray outside of “moderate” excursions as my husband has had back surgery and knee replacement within the past couple of years.
However, we did do the “difficult” hike to Mardalsfossen when in Molde - it was a longer bus ride to get there - and (even though he paid the price with his other knee) he said it was worth it! It’s fairly steep with gravel areas but I found it easy to navigate especially with hiking poles.
In Seydisfjordur Toms knee was still acting up so we walked around town and then I went with some of our cruise mates to the waterfall that you can walk to right on the outskirts of town. Again, it’s steep but plenty of places to stop and catch your breath and well worth it.
In Djupivogur we again took a long bus ride to the glacier in Vatnajokull which was totally remarkable! There was a different tour group that was kayaking at the base of the glacier and, although that wasn’t offered thru Viking, it’s something that I would not miss if I ever made it back there or if I had known about it& if time allowed for it. The beauty left me speechless!
On the longer bus rides they do a comfort stop and even for a meal or a snack which they specify when signing up. Have a great time!
As far as the difficulty rating of the excursions, take the description (3 hours of standing and walking) and apply it to your level of health, activity level, and the things you like to do. Do you like to hike? In our 14 cruises I've found this to work very well for us. When I was 40 something, nothing Viking offers on that cruise would be demanding, but now that I'm 70 something and "fairly active" I don't want to do those things.
We did the Iconic Iceland, Greenland, & Canada cruise in June 2023. We stopped at all 4 Iceland ports you will. I posted about our excursions at those ports. If you search on the excursion or my name you should be able to read about our adventures.
I don't recommend the Vok Baths. We did that as part of a bus tour we did before boarding. They've built "baths" over some hot springs in a lake and the wood is covered with growth you normally get in any lake anywhere. The water was not all that warm either.
Akureyri: Either the Diamonds of the North or the Northern Iceland’s Natural Treasures would be good. Just expect a lot of time on the bus.
Because of the limited time you'll have in Reykjavik I do not recommend the Blue Lagoon. There are other things offered that are better. We spent an afternoon there on our own before we boarded the ship.
We have just completed a 7 day bus trip around Iceland and will board the Viking Neptune on 6 June. I want to pass along some things I learned this past week.
Do you need local currency? No, unless you want to tip a tour guide in cash. We stopped at small stores, restaurants, and grocery stores and I was able to use my tap and pay Visa card everywhere. No PIN and only had to sign three times. My wife also used Applepay on her iPhone.
Some stops had pay toilets. The majority had a turnstile that kept you out until you paid. These all had card readers and again my tap and pay Visa card worked just fine. The few that were honor system usually had a sign that said 200 ISK or $1 or 1 euro. So I used USD for those.
Food can be expensive. Our cheapest meal was at a gas station/cafe. If you live in OK think QT. They were kind of a smaller version of Buc-E, or OWA. We split a fish and chips meal with a drink, it was about $25. We had lunch at the Geysir tourist area, two bowls of very good soup for $42. The most expensive meal was at one of our hotels, two entrees and two cocktails for about $98. I had a single (1oz) pour of bourbon for $11.
If you are thinking about renting a car, gas is about 311 ISK or about $2.25 per liter. Equates to about $8.40 a gallon.
