New York Giants rookie pass rusher Abdul Carter also received a prank call during the NFL draft, agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

The call came Thursday night when the Jacksonville Jaguars were on the clock after acquiring the No. 2 pick from the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster trade. The caller said he was from the Jaguars and told Carter they were going to select him second overall.

"It's unfortunate that these private numbers are getting to the people making the prank calls," Rosenhaus told Schefter. "Abdul and I knew it was B.S. and didn't even tell his family about the call."

The Jaguars, of course, selected Travis Hunter with their pick, then Carter was picked at No. 3 by the Giants.

Cooper Dejean also got a prank call last year. I didn’t see any uproar then.

God forbid a prank call stopped him from playing in Jacksonville over NYC. Heartbreaking

Hopefully for Schefter he learned this after he blamed the call on Shedeur for not having a agent.

I mean you probably didn’t see a bunch of people celebrating of awesome and funny it was either, and didn’t see a video of the culprit showing themselves doing it.

Aren't the phones NFL-issued burn phones just for the draft?

You’re right, but people are making this an end of world situation. Childish? Sure, but every single person on this planet has received a prank call growing up. To the extent of what happened to Sanders? No, but dishing out 350,000 worth of fines to the Falcons and their DC, and all the media backlash over it? Seems like an overreaction.

seems appropriate enough, not enough to break any of these guys bank but enough to send a message to stop their shithead kids from being shitheads

It is an actual security breach and that's like a $2 fine to them.

It being a Twitter meme for a couple minutes isn’t a big deal. It’s absolutely loser behavior from the kid, but ultimately would’ve been a nothing story had the kid not filmed himself and had not been the son of an active NFL DC

An NFL prospects (and multiple apparently) number and allowing this to happen is certainly a big deal from the NFLs perspective and that’s why they took punitive action to deter it from happening in the future

Still a huge overreaction.

In the range of NFL overreaction / overly punitive actions, this falls pretty low on the list. Not sure why anyone’s clutching pearls over the Atlanta falcons paying a parking ticket level cost relative to their cash flow. It’s the NFL equivalent of a slap on the wrist.

Carter was not acting ghetto hood rat enough to warrant a NFL investigation.

Didn’t need to be done. Doesn’t matter the money. Just like the apology. Didn’t need to be done.

But instead people are clutching pearls over a college prank call lol

You definitely have that flipped. The people melting over the prank call are definitely the pearl clutchers. This feels like the gaslight during Covid when libards tried to hijack what a Karen is/was.
