Let us get to 0:0 and apparently everyone will benefit from this TraadE Waaaaar!
Shrubby was fine with China tarrifing us, but when we reciprocate, he was big mad.

It's an unfortunate part of the process.
I hate having to keep track of these for some of my company's business. It changes so quickly and it's difficult to predict costs and budgeting in the future. But it's short term pain for hopefully a more logical long term solution.

And we're supposed to believe Xi that these guve and takes(aka negotiations) are happening without any communication with Trump or his admin????? Come on man! Lol

This second Trump term has baited many posters into showing their true colors.
I think IB Freeman may have actually suck started a shotgun.

What's the point? I've yet to hear the actual point.

The whole point is negotiations. Blanket tariffs are not the end game. Tariffs should be used to protect other countries from destroying the industries you excel at. Unfortunately, we haven’t utilized them and we have little industry left.

I hear ya! That's my temperament also, but Trump isn't overly concerned with saving face of wanting to make China look bad, he just wants a better trading deal for the US.
I wouldn't doubt him and Xi are talking directly and Trump just isn't making a big deal about it.
IMHO

I said it once and I’ll say it again.
Trump would not have done this if he wasn’t sure of the outcome.

They did, I agree; however, the whole point of tariffing everyone to death is to create an equal playing field.
If you pick and choose winners and losers, it dilutes the whole purpose of the tariffs in the first place. Next week something else will get a waiver.
And of course this is great for said American company shipping their ethane to China - no one is disputing that.
Non-comprehensive list of exempted products b/c we have limited production capacity:
Computer Components and Storage Devices
Parts and accessories for computers (8473.30)
Solid-state drives (SSDs) and other non-volatile storage devices (8523.51.00)
Flat-panel display modules used in monitors and mobile devices (8524)
Smartphones and Communication Devices
Smartphones (8517.13.00)
Routers, switches, and other data transmission equipment (8517.62.00)
Flat-panel displays intended for computer integration (8528.52.00)
Semiconductors and Electronics
Semiconductor manufacturing equipment (8486)
Diodes and transistors, including optical isolators and thyristors (8541 series)
Unmounted chips, dice, and wafers (8541.29.00)
Semiconductor-based transducers (8541.51.00)
Electronic integrated circuits and related parts (8542)
So products we need and require go into the exempted category, yet it fricks everyone else who aren't in the semiconductor biz.
