Jefferson Parish residents what are your thoughts?


Parishwide Proposition (Library) - 6 1/2 Mills Renewal - PC - 10 Yrs. (Select 1)
Shall the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana be authorized to renew the levy and collection of a tax not to exceed six and one-half (6 1/2) mills on all property subject to taxation in the Parish for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2028, with the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the tax for one year being $29,522,838, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and operating public library facilities and equipment therefor within and for the Parish?

Consolidated Drainage District No. 2 - 6 Mills Renewal - PC - 10 Yrs. (Select 1)
Shall Consolidated Drainage District No. 2 of the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana be authorized to renew the levy and collection of a tax not to exceed six (6) mills on all property subject to taxation in said District for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2027, with the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the tax for one year being $26,847,412, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining or operating the drainage works within and for said District?

Shall Consolidated Jefferson Recreation and Community Center and Playground District of the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana be authorized to renew the levy and collection of a tax not to exceed ten (10) mills on all property subject to taxation in said District for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2027, with the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the tax for one year being $35,012,021, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and operating recreation and other facilities in said District?

I’m voting yes for all 3. We use the library a ton and same with the playgrounds

My .02. I won’t ever vote favorable for a property tax. If the government can come take your land and sell it, then you don’t actually own it. That just grates me. It also allows people without skin in the game to increase my tax burden.

Jeff parish residents pay a tax to JPRD and then JP fills up the rec leagues with Orleans kids who pay a waiver fee equivalent to about a 250k assessment. That is how much the lots cost near Pontiff and Lakeshore playgrounds.

Is this true? I know some kids from lakeview and lake vista play in JP but is it really a widespread thing? The playground in Lakeview is extremely full.

Definitely true. About 50% Orleans at Lakeshore and 40% at Pontiff if not more.
