Do you think he will redshirt with scott, williams, murphy, and ridley all in front of him?

2010 he will carry the ball some.

Will probably play special teams in 2009 -- I wish we would just redshirt him and save eligibility

I think with Scott coming back he is a RS. I think had Scott left, he would see the field next year some.

true:

21 carries
114 yards

I don't think the coaching staff used him right last year though.

Probably a redshirt unless injuries happen.

He has a great shot at being a starter next year. Hopefully he RS, this year.

don't waste the time by redshirting him ... let him play special teams and at least we will get some value from him next year

I'm guessing that if he is the running back that his ranking projects him to be ... he will not be at LSU for 5 years ... aside from elite talent, he plays the most injury prone position on the field

if he is elite, he would be a fool to waste carries at LSU when he could be getting paid for them in the NFL ... if he is NOT elite ... no one will care anyway if he stays 5 years ... people will be yelling and screaming for the NEXT ... YOUNGER ... elite running back signed up by our recruiting machine to be carrying the ball

simply put ... with the type of talent that we are recruiting these days ... you are lucky if they stay THREE years ... hope that they stay FOUR years ... the chances of seeing FIVE years are slim and none ... so forget the redshirt and have a kick a$$ special teams

Not saying Ford should be on special teams but I disagree with one of the above post. Kickoff team needed more speed this past season. We looked like lineman most of the time coveing the kickoff.

We have a dozen speedsters that can play special teams. Theres no need to waste a RS year unless he's just a freak on special teams. Special teams are important but unless you have to I wouldnt waste a Fr. RS status just for that.

You spoke of the number of carries. He wont get any carries next year anyways, so he wont take any punishment. As far as staying 5 years. Each kid is different. If he gets stuck behind Murph, Ridley and splits carries after that or struggles to impress. He may want to return for his 5th year to help his draft status. At least he will have that option.
