Your thoughts on the belief that Christians today would reject the teachings of Jesus?

Should read "some" Christians, not a lot of space for a thread title though.

Some people believe that a sect of modern Christians would reject Jesus Christ and his teachings if he walked the Earth with us today.
His views would be labeled as "liberal" or even "socialist". Would he be outcast?

What are your thoughts?

I’m a Christian and I wouldn’t reject Jesus’ teachings. I don’t worry too much about what others would or wouldn’t do.

I won’t wade into the liberal or socialism aspect, but I can guarantee you many Christians would deny him publicly. Hell, Peter himself did it 3 times around 2000 years ago.

Johnson and Thune would pass a bill to crucify him, and the media would say he’s racist. But it wouldn’t be because of a socialist label. It would be because he’s truthful. Not unlike our current president

I continue to be amused at the belief that Jesus was some social justice warrior liberal.

Jesus is the most progressive figure in all of history. This board would hate Him and would quite literally cuss Him out of He told them to love everyone, including people who weren’t born In the USA and poor people. Can you imagine what y’all would say if Jesus told you to love Black people?

I'll say this. He was not a nationalist. Some of his followers expected him to lead an uprising against Rome and he explicitly stated his Kingdom was not of this world. Anybody who thinks Christian and Nationalism belong in the same sentence are following some other belief system than Christianity.

ETA that was quick. When I started posting this thread was on the OT and it had moved before I hit enter.

You play a one string guitar. Does your husband like his chair in the corner?

Very cool, thank you for posting. I'm learning more about this now after looking it up. FYI I'm seeing it was first published in 1921, not 1917. Either way, your point stands.

Socialism isn’t “giving” like The Lord asked. It is Government taking and distributing to others and empowering and enriching itself. Don’t confuse the two. People give and churches give willingly with a choice. Government oppression and dominance over people isn’t what was taught.

As far as if he returned like 2000 years ago I personally am not sure. There have been so many false prophets who’ve hurt so many. That being said why not ask Muslims if Muhammad returned? Christians are the target of the left because they want the control and money in this country.

Liberal and conservative are political descriptors and not a lens I tend to use.

That might be a little far fetched, but the way he carried himself would not exactly fit well into really any American political party.

That being said, loving everyone and respecting everyone isn’t the problem like 4cubbies is trying to say. It’s a strawman.
