Advice on Italy/Switzerland Trip

Wife and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary and would like to do Italy and perhaps a few days in Switzerland. This will be in late June and early July. I was thinking roughly 10 days in country. My thoughts were Florence and Tuscany for 5-6 days and then take a train to Interlaken for 4-5 nights. This is our first time to Europe and planning for this trip is a little bit intimidating. Anyone with any advice? Is doing Italy and Switzerland doable based on our time frame?

Wife and I flew into Zurich, spent a few days there. Booked a day trip to The Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe) goes through Interlaken. Highly recommend.
Then took the train to Milan, one night there saw the Last Supper. Took the train to meet family members in Venice. We had already been to Rome so after 2 days in Venice we flew to Athens. Switzerland is not cheap, Greece is, Italy in between the two.
Taking the trains between Switzerland and Italy is easy.

Your idea is a good one.

Great idea to stay for a while in both places. I took the train from Interlaken to Florence years ago. We did an overnight train to save a day of exploration. Although the views from that train ride are probably worth a day

Where will you be flying into?
I can say that Florence, Lauterbrunnen and Lucern are some of the best places I’ve ever visited in my life. Loved them all.
Interlaken is great, but if you’re able, I’d spend a night or two in Wengen or someplace like that in the valley. Easier than taking the train in and out.

Also, if you have the time, look into taking the train from Interlaken to Bern. It’s only a 45 minute train ride. We enjoyed a few hours in the city and stopped in a few other towns in between Bern and Interlaken (Airbnb was in Spiez).
The rail system is really easy to navigate in both Italy and Switzerland. You’re going to love the trip

The Alps are phenomenal in the summer. Just know that many places may not have AC and it will be very hot in Italy in July.
If its your first time in Europe I would suggest doing a lot of exploring early and then finding a spot to settle down in for a couple days at the end to really relax.
Consider your flights, I hate flying over with a layover in Europe as you get in early afternoon instead of early morning so not only is your first day almost over but your jet lag is terrible. You'll have the most amount of direct flights from the states to places like Zurich, Milan, and Rome. So consider an open jaw ticket to somewhere like Rome then flying out of Zurich to plan your travel. Or vice versa. Adding a stop in Europe home isn't as big of a deal its just an extra flight, not ideal but not as bad IMO.

We took a train to Gruyere. Toured the cheese shop, went into the mid-evil town and castle, then took a tour of Cailler chocolate factory (very much like Willy Wonka without the death
