I dont know about you guys but I am fired up to see our talent that we have on defense play under these. Guys. I applaud Les Miles and his decisions on hiring these guys. We have some special special years ahead of us Tiger Fans.

I think we are pretty much instantly going back to the days of 13 ppg allowed. That's enough to put us in contention.

for some reason i feel really good about brick and cooper. Something about chavis, can't put my finger on it. He was my number 2 choice behind walker. He just seems to be missing something. I am very proud of the hire don't get me wrong. Maybe cause he is old??? says he is not promising anything, (which he can't) i dunno cna't put my finger on it. But hey he is big on discipline

Chavis is only 52. Not really that old for the experience he has.

Once you get in your 50's you will decide that 52 is not old at all.

The Chavis hire didn't really excite me. But I think he has a lot of defensive knowledge. Hoping that maybe being in new environs might light a fire under his backside so that his best years as DC are still ahead of him.

Chavis should be fairly excited, considering he's getting about a $160,000 increase in salary by coming here and working with some solid players.

Have faith we're on the right path to success. I think these three new defensive coaches will produce very good results with our talent.

We would all feel much better if you could put your finger on it.

Youthfulness that some of our previous DC's had.
But, while Chavis might lack the energy and enthusiasm of a mid-30 year old DC, he can make up with invaluable wisdom and experience.
Perhaps this move and salary increase and new environment working with new coaches and players will reinvigorate him.

How much do you think the passengers on the USAir flight that the 57 year old pilot set down in the Hudson were complaining because he's "old"? People in their early 20's (and younger) need to develop a little perspective on what "old" means. Then again, children do need to be given time to grow up.

Oh yes his age should be a real factor.
Jim Johnson, DC, Philadelphia Eagles 66 years old
Dick LeBeau, DC, Pittsburgh Steelers 71 years old
Monte Kiffen,DC,Tampa Bay Bucs/UT 68 years old

I'm with ya there Salty!! Only in my mid 40's at present but still feel like mid 20's (until the morning after a good post-game tailgate party
I love the experience that Chief brings to the position. With Brick and Cooper handling position coaching, I think this is going to be a very productive package.

Joe Kines was about 60 years old back in 2005 when Bama led the nation in scoring defense.
I understand what brother dreaux is talking about. It's okay.

Who thinks 52 is old? Just wait! 50 is just getting well "seasoned" and smart.
