This still doesn't tell us what happened prior. Much of the time referees deserve the crap players and coaches give them, especially in the NBA.

He was frustrate with a no call and then he threw the ball at the ref that got him a T and then acted like a total baby by playing keep away with the ref.

There was a CFB game in the late 2000s on ESPN where a player got a 15 yard penalty for "giving him the business."

And he stole it from an NFL ref in the 70s (who I believe was reffing a Jets game)...the NFL ref made sure the fans knew he meant punching and roughing up the opposing player in a pile.
