China doesn’t want this heat. Their economy is a paper tiger as is. Let them actually pay their slaves. It is strange, the liberals that don’t realize the complete turmoil the people there go through coupled with the toxic waste they daily dump into the environment. But Orange Man bad is all they know.

They don’t care. They have an iron grip on their populace because, you know, authoritarian government.

It’s a tenuous hold though. That’s why they brought out tanks in 1989.

They’re better equipped to handle 3 years of a stagnant economy than we are. They’ve dealt with worse.

Not at all. They have to keep their population fully employed to stave off mass unrest.

China has an advantage here. They actually have factories, a willing and cheap workforce, and like 8 billion people who aren’t Americans to sell to. Oh, and as a real fricking dictatorship, don’t care about their people and are far more willing and capable of censoring the news. Turns out the first amendment is useful. Who knew?!
Americans need to import everything and have a populace that will very quickly revolt over money and QOL lol.

Exactly right. This is why their companies will just eat the tariffs in exchange for retaining market dominance.

Y’all are about to learn some really important lessons about just how fragile America hegemony truly is.

Europe may be about to borrow a gazillion dollars and step in as the consumer of last resort. Their politicians are possibly more corrupt than ours. Won't work out well for them in the long run, but that's never stopped a corrupt politician before.

China needs to do a Texas and split into 5 countries

Nope. Target and Wal-Mart and the myriad automakers and other fabricators that have factories here are. They’re the American consumer’s lifeline as well.
You guys really have no clue what kind of downstream effects this will have.

Look at the trade imbalance. China is too dependent on the US market. They have no other choice but to eat the tariffs and accept a lower profit margin, otherwise their economy collapses.

They’ll gladly cut us out if we become too volatile to reliably deal with, and so will practically everyone else.
