Aight smrtass answers aside, Am I one of the few to think he can be really good 100% healthy. I mean he was a Top 10 S coming out of HS. He did have a pretty good year at 8&4 and was set to start the next before a shoulder injury. He started for us at S but was “said” to having played the season injured, just wondering fully healthy is he a Good caliber SEC Safety. Or was that the excuse we were given for below average play. If Cooley is worth the hype and Gilbert is 100% we shouldn’t be horrible at Safety Right?!?
I know ill receive downvotes so I downvoted myself because the gang mentality is always alive and well here at the Rant.

He had 5 of the hardest hits from anyone on the defensive side. If our fs transfer can cover roles sage was bad or avg at best at, gilbert won't look as exposed. He needs to be more sure tackled , vs always looking for big hits. And we need to limit his man on man exposure. Having that s transfer should allow the dc to scheme him away from that exposure, or at least mitigate it. He very much can be an avg sec safety

He is horrible tackling in the open field. Other than that he is an average safety.

Agree-shoulder injury set him back last year -couldn’t hit cleanly

Takes terrible angles and is a poor tackler, seemed out of position a lot. Havent seen any real ball skills from him. Low ceiling player I think. I don’t hate the kid, but just calling it how I see it. Always could improve dramatically.

I don’t think the shoulder had much of an impact considering he actually had some of the hardest hits on the defense. I’m more concerned about his bad angles, poor coverage, and lack of speed.

He takes really bad angles from deep safety way too often. I actually think he’d be good as a hybrid S/LB that plays closer to the LOS.

I find he over plays in coverage and is a bad tackler. He has the tools. Just has to finish tackles and be more disciplined in coverage. I don't hate him but I think he needs to put it together or be passed over for someone with more eligibility

I'm really hoping that Spears takes a big step this offseason or I think S will be a weak point again, but maybe Delane could slide over if we need him

So he’s a wannabe thumper that doesn’t really tackle well (but is willing to hit) and not good in coverage.

Basically he’s Karnell Hatcher (when he was a safety).
