Anybody fish caddo?

Heading up to caddo in the morning to do some bass fishing tomorrow and Thursday. I’ve never been, not looking for anybody’s spots, just wondering how the fishing is and how the water is after the recent rains we’ve gotten. I’m hoping to catch some big bass(8lbs+). I typically go to bussey, but I’ve been a couple times this year and it just gets repetitive since it’s so small. Just wanting to go somewhere new.

Worst lake ever, you'll be lucky I you don't knock a hole in your boat, no fish in it. DONT GO!

would you be willing to switch species to gar? If so, you might have a good time.

Go to Lake of the Pines
Are you being serious? I’m at caddo and haven’t gotten a bite all morning. If lake of the pines is really better, I’ll buy a Texas license and go over there, but I don’t really want to waste my money if this is a joke lol

All the time. I'm in Shreveport.

wondering how the fishing is
Caddo can be a very challenging lake to figure out, but it has big bass in it. It seems to me "junk fishing" or just throwing old faithful your favorite lure will get you skunked. Once, you figure them out it may be very specific, but it can be a blast.

It's 2.5' above full pool. Not exactly ideal, because once it gets high enough to touch cypress limbs, you've eliminated 90% of the structure on the lake.
Late winter is the best time to catch a nice one in my opinion.

Skip a weedless fluke at the cypress trees. Accurate casts and you should get a good one. Also if the wind picks up throw a chatterbait or spinnerbait. Frogs in the thick grass and pads.

Check out The Sportfishing Encyclopedia on YouTube for an overview of Caddo. Just seen it pop up.

Went last year for a couple days with the wife and we had a blast. Caught plenty in the cypress trees but took a minute to figure out where to fish. After talking to some locals in Uncertain, we found em and tore em up

Update: fished caddo yesterday until about 11 then went to lake o the pines for the rest of the day. I didn’t catch a single fish all day. The water was high in both lakes. Decided to try Toledo bend today. I didn’t catch a fish there until about 2pm, then I started catching a bunch of little buck bass on wacky rigged senkos. I only caught 2 over 14”, but after nearly 2 days of not getting a bite, it was a good time catching those dinks.
