A very big deal! pozdravleniya! With Wayne Gretzky in the audience.
LINK
The Washington Capitals’ captain made history Sunday against the New York Islanders by beating fellow Russian Ilya Sorokin on a power play in the second period. Ovechkin had never scored on Sorokin before, making his countryman the 183rd different goaltender he has beaten.
Just as they did after he scored No. 894 minutes earlier, teammates mobbed the 39-year-old Russian to celebrate the accomplishment, which replaced a record that had stood for 31 years.

Gretzky is still the greatest.

Perhaps, but he is fully supportive of Ovechkin! Sportsmanship wins!

The hockey hate is unbelievable. The only sport not filled by prima Dona’s these days and focuses more on the team than themselves. And they can have a straight bare knuckle fight and it’s still in the woke year of our lord 2025 only a 5 minute penalty.
Hockey is awesome, fast paced, team oriented, and hard hitting. If you don’t like it and also hitch how the NFL and NBA have gone downhill, I don’t know what to tell you.

I was just making a joke with my dig, those guys are very athletic but it's pretty boring to watch, to me, I do like playing hockey, irl it's not as fast of a game as tv makes it appear, fast paced, yes

And, the NHL has not messed with its game. It’s basically the same as it’s was 50 years ago.

Have been a hockey fan for a couple three decades. Particularly loved Friday night games after a stressful week at work. The skills required are impressive, as is the stamina. And no 'refrigerator' sized 'players' in this sport.
Sadly, ticket prices have gotten ridiculous and it's no longer possible to take the family. It's a great spectator sport!
