Unlike my earlier OP, I have asked ChatGPT to focus squarely on the powers of Europe instead of the entire world. This time I have asked it to do a Top 10 list instead of a Top 5 so we can get a better sense of what the continent looked like within each century.

Their empires were based in those present day countries but their borders extended into Europe proper. Hence why they were included.
