For those that do not know, this film was done in 2022, completed, ready to be released and got shelved and the filmmakers and everyone around it were told it would never see the light of day. The reason was Warner Brothers thought they would be better off taking a tax credit on it than releasing it.

People around Hollywood including some critics were able to see it and loved it.

Maybe it sucks but at least it will get to be released.

Entire reason movies "cost" 300 mil now instead of 30. Money laundering racket

Makes me want to catch it in theaters just to send a message to Viacom.

Then blame the wide audiences when the slop product that hits the theater doesn’t make back its budget, when the whole point is to not make the budget back for these purposes anyway.

While they lap up favorable interest rates from their lenders because they towed the line on the ESG nonsense....

Yes. Helping the movie be a theatrical success for the new owners when WB/Viacom was trying desperately to kill the movie to reap the tax benefits in claiming the whole thing as a loss.

Viacom doesn’t own WB, though, so your aim is off.

They didn't make it just to kill it for a tax write off though. It got caught up in merger financial bullshite forced via shithead investment fricks.

The Discovery part of the merger was always going to be retarded. The channel used to have actual educational content. Now they make multiple shows about midgets who own a farm.

This movie will make over 50MM in the opening weekend. Seems like a huge win for Ketchup.

That was certainly one of those weird mergers where the acquirer and acquiring leadership think they know more because they did the acquiring, but they really know nothing about good scripted content. It's one thing for Discovery to acquire the Food Network, totally different to buy the catalogue of WB IPs.

For HBO/Warner Brothers fans, it was definitely a step in the wrong direction.
