Direct flight from NOLA or can you connect?

Spirit has NS flights to Cancun. Generally $250 RT NS. A million options at that price point. Take the ferry to isle Mujeres for the ‘local’ experience.

I have been looking at secrets akumal, has great reviews and can snorkel off the beach with sea turtles

Secrets Playa Mujeres was awesome when I went, but it's almost been 10 years now. I've heard it's showing some of it's age. Also, nothing to do in the town.
My friend is a member of Secrets premier program. They love Akumal.

Excellence oyster bay jamaica is top notch...but "safe local town" off property is really not a thing in the carribean...
