Whatever happened to this place? Used to be a nice dive with an extensive whiskey and beer selection that I frequented a fair amount prior to moving back to Lafayette for a few years. It was nice having Waffle House next door to soak it all up.

Closed. They had a last night open party and whatnot. This has been years ago now.

Owner owns The Cove on Essen.

The Cove is on Jefferson and Bluebonnet behind Izzo's.

ETA: The statement above is accurate. The Cove is on Bluebonnet and Jefferson. If you meant The Lost Cove, then you should have said that instead of "The Cove".

Closed in august 2019. Owner didn’t renew the lease.

Went there weekly if not multiple times a week. Was the perfect dive bar. I have a tshirt and matchbook somewhere back when they had both things.

Never saw a prize like that. Best I ever won was a pirate ship piñata.

Tom was the owner, didn't drive. Got his employees to bring him to work. Always in a white shirt, like a ship's captain. Opened the Cove while I was still in BTR. Great bar, but never had the dive feel of Port Royal. I remember PR before he expanded it. It was truly a dive. Didn't have room for the pool table and foosball, if I remember correctly. Danny was the bartender, who didn't drink.

They had a contest going for a month, whichever team accumulated the most points, they won a TV. I think it was a Vizio, kind of a lower end HD set. So my wife and I went every week - we ended up giving the set to her dad because he didn't have an HD TV at his camp.

Danny isn't an owner of Brickyard anymore. He's the GM of Var's pizza.

Didn't realize he sold is no longer involved, although I did know he had affiliation with Vars. Who owns Brickyard now?

He never owned it outright himself. He had 2 other partners - Bryan and Joe. He sold his portion to them and moved on last year.
