We will be traveling to Kansas in May to visit our son. What is the best way to keep them alive for travel? Thanks in advance!

Sack of bugs in bottom of ice chest, towel on top of bugs and ice on top of towel. Remove ice chest drain to let water out.

Cooler with a small amount of ice or freezer packs would work too. They need air though so crack the lid. They also shouldn’t be submerged for long periods. Rig something to keep the bugs off the bottom of the ice chest if using ice.

Or, order through LA Crawfish for delivery to KS.

keep them in the sack, put whole sack in empty ice chest , open drain plug and keep a bag of ice on top, punch some holes in the ice bag to allow melted ice water to drip through the sack, pour a couple cold bottles of water over the sack every few hours if you can, keep lid cracked and in as cool a place as you can

Filling up a few 2 liters with water and freezing work well also for placing in the ice chest.

Empty water bottles on bottom of ice chest, sack on top of that, ice on sack, pull the plug. Water bottles keeps the crawfish out of the water

Son of a bitch. I always put literal bricks at the bottom and my cooler was heavy as hell. This is genius.

Your'e getting the right advice. I boil all over. We go out of state on four & five day trips. Cooler, ice, plug pulled.

If you keep the plug pulled so all the water escapes that’s enough air for them to breathe. Just know that a cooler with ice on it with air movement burns the ice A LOT faster than a cooler that’s shut off with no air movement. So don’t forget about them.
