Do these people know that they are vandalizing property that isn't owned by Elon Musk but by private individuals? Or do they not care?
I'd guess than 70% of Telsa owners likely are left of center, even if they may not be on board with rampant government waste. Vandalizing their cars isn't going to make them angry at Musk. It's going to make them angry at the radical leftists that want to protect government waste and fraud.

It would eventually affect Elon because people won't buy Tesla's if they fear reprisal.

He literally has no leg to stand on. As an adult, he was consciously breaking the law, he knew what he was doing and intentionally committed a crime. Professionally, as a financial underwriter he did the exact same thing.
